Alterra Mountain Company is a family of 19 iconic year-round destinations, including the world's largest heli-ski operation and owner of a platform called Mountain Powder, which is where our work was centred around.

Scalable frameworks
Architected a scalable left-rail navigation system to replace the legacy website structure, providing a more intuitive framework for feature-dense product modules, supporting mental models and long-term platform growth.

Role-based interface
Delivered a secure, multi-user interface that utilized permission-based views to distinguish between high-level administrative controls and restricted reporting-only functionalities.
The process
Overview
Performed a comprehensive gap analysis by synthesizing SME and customer feedback, identifying high-impact enhancement opportunities and new feature requirements to further streamline user workflows.
Leveraged and matured the existing design system by introducing scalable components and interaction patterns, bridging the gap between legacy constraints and best-in-class product experiences.
Authored high-fidelity design handoffs by providing annotated specifications that minimized implementation ambiguity and streamlined the development process.

Intentional exclusion
There were multiple product features that optically appeared as enhancement opportunities, but after hearing from users that actually use the product, we learned that not everything that needs to be reimagined based on how it looks.

Maturing design ops
Through the auditing and insights we managed to breakthrough and introduce new components and patterns that will allow stronger scalability for the product and improve the lives of people using the product everyday.
